Looking for a reliable/ accurate Air traffic forecast? Well, it’s not that easy to find one in the challenging and forever changing environment that we currently find ourselves in. The COVID pandemic has created huge uncertainty in who can or wants to fly where and when, which in turn makes forecasting traffic even for the next few weeks a very challenging task.

Paul Ravenhill and Diana Toma from the Think team, supported by Dragoș Daniil Săndică (an Aerospace student from the University of Bucharest), contributed to the recently published CANSO white paper titled: “Interpreting traffic forecasting during the pandemic” which describes the types of forecast models currently available to ANSP’S and discusses how forecasting models will need to be recalibrated when forecasting post-COVID.
