Safety

Guiding ANSPs through ATM system replacement, helping ensure a safe, effective, and well-managed implementation.

Overview

Ensuring the safety of aircraft operations is essential, which is why aviation is one of the most highly regulated sectors in the world. In an industry that continues to modernise, safety assurance and safety practices must remain at the forefront of every operation.

As systems and operations have become more complex, safety has evolved beyond simply assessing how likely an operation is to fail. It now involves understanding the wider sociotechnical system, including human factors and safety culture. At Think, our Safety service is built on the principle that comprehensive and rigorous risk assessment reveals safety-related risks across the operation. Our aim is to help drive operational risk down to As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) and ensure risks are fully understood.

How We Can Help

At Think, we support safety activities through a wide range of services. We can help implement a robust safety management system that integrates with operational and aerodrome manuals, as well as CAA and EASA regulations. We can also carry out detailed risk assessments throughout the full development cycle, whether for capacity enhancements, infrastructure changes, ATC procedures, equipment changes, or baseline assessments of current operations.

To assess safety, we apply recognised methods aligned with national and international aviation regulation and guidance to identify hazards, assess consequences, and evaluate risk. Our scientific and data-led approach also allows us to develop bespoke collision risk models, support quantified safety assessments where needed, define safety requirements, reduce residual risk to ALARP, and produce safety cases to support regulatory approval.
