Providing Air Traffic Management and Airports expertise in the Middle East

OUR FOCUS

Concept Development

The thought of replacing an ATM system, either in part or full, can be daunting. We help guide ANSPs, Airports and Airlines through this process, making sure that the right jobs are being done at the right time to achieve a safe, acceptable, on-time and on-budget implementation.

Procurement

The purchase of new systems and services requires detailed understanding of procurement practicalities. Our wide experience with tendering processes, allows us to manage and provide support through the different stages of the procurement ensuring the desired benefits are completely achieved, both financially and operationally.

Validation

There is a constant need to continuously evolve systems, procedures and infrastructure to keep up with the performance required from our airspace and airports. We are specialists in validation methodologies and techniques to generate the evidence to establish assurance in your planned enhancements.

MIDDLE EAST CASE STUDIES

The Client

The State of Qatar/Qatar Airways Group (QAG)

The Challenge

In order to meet the expected demands on aviation from the FIFA WC2022 and to meet the future growth aspirations of QAG, the State of Qatar instigated an ambitious ATM upgrade project. The project is supported by the three main stakeholders: Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), Qatar Ministry of Defence (QMOD) and Qatar Airways Group.

The Challenge

The aim of this project is to deploy capacity enhancing tools and procedures; develop and implement a new airspace for both Civil and Military; and procure and install new hardware to prepare for implementation of a Flight Information Region (FIR).  The project is made up of four main work packages: Capacity, Airspace, Training and Equipment.

Our Approach

Think’s initial role in the project was as an advisor to QAG during the procurement phase to appoint a main contractor for the work and develop the project governance. Following contract award, Think’s remit transitioned to lead the Qatar Project Team (QPT), formed of the three stakeholder groups, that would oversee the work delivered by the main contractor.

Our Approach

Think’s presence within the QPT was to ensure that the project was completed according to the plan, whilst supporting the different stakeholders’ interests within the project. Using our extensive experience delivering projects around the world we have embedded our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) into the QPT and wider project governance.

Our Approach

Our SMEs oversee and provided advice on HIRO, RRSM, ASDS, RECAT, AMAN/DMAN, ATFM, IPO, Airspace Design, Validation (FTS & RTS), FUA, Digital & Remote Towers and GBAS, amongst other projects.
