The Challenge

Over the last 10 years validation has become more and more of a focus in ATM development projects.  Establishing that the concepts under development are fit-for-purpose has become increasingly relevant as timescales are shortened and budgets are stretched.  Entire programmes such as SESAR are constructed using validation and the language of validation as their cornerstones. 

There is an unprecedented need for all ATM stakeholders to understand the need for validation, how validation is applied, and what it will mean to their organisations. 

Our Approach

As co-authors of the European Operational Concept Validation Methodology (E-OCVM) Think were tasked by EUROCONTROL to develop the original training material for the E-OCVM (Version 2) in 2006.  Since then Think have been delivering validation and E-OCVM training courses worldwide.

Our trainers prefer to take the participants on a journey based on their own shared experiences.  By focusing on the principles of validation rather than simply “teaching the book” we bring people to a place of realisation that they probably know more about the fundamentals of validation that they thought. 

Form high level introductory sessions suitable for management, through to intensive 2-3 day courses on validation for practitioners, our aim is to enable knowledge creation within organisations allowing them to become more confidence and independent when it comes to validation. 

The Outcome

Over the last 10 years Think have delivered training to over 200 participants.  In many instances this advisory role has continued to include on-the-job training, on call consultancy and advice, as well as bringing Think onboard as an organisation’s validation partner.
